The Peculiar X - Ray Transient Igr 16358 − 4726

چکیده
The new transient IGR 16358−4726 was discovered on 2003 March 19 with INTEGRAL. We detected the source serendipitously during our 2003 March 24 observation of SGR 1627− 41 with the Chandra X-ray observatory at the 1.7×10 ergs s cm flux level (2−10 keV) with a very high absorption column (NH = 3.3 × 10 23 cm) and a hard power law spectrum of index 0.5(1). We discovered a very strong flux modulation with a period of 5880(50) s and peak-to-peak pulse fraction of 70(6) % (2 − 10 keV), clearly visible in the x-ray data. The nature of IGR 16358− 4726 remains unresolved. The only neutron star systems known with similar spin periods are low luminosity persistent wind-fed pulsars; if this is a spin period, this transient is a new kind of object. If this is an orbital period, then the system could be a compact Low Mass X-ray Binary (LMXB). Subject headings: pulsars: individual (IGR 16358− 4726)

RXTE observations of strongly absorbed sources IGR J 16318 - 4848 and IGR J 16358 - 4726
Results of analysis of RXTE observations of strongly absorbed X-ray sources IGR J16318-4848 and IGR J16358-4726 are presented. Careful subtraction of Galactic ridge emission contribution to the observed spectra of RXTE/PCA allowed us to obtain the spectra of the sources in 3–25 keV energy band. Spectra of the sources cold be well described by a power law with photoabsorption. It is shown that t...
متن کاملXMM-Newton observation of the Soft Gamma Ray Repeater SGR 1627–41 in a low luminosity state
The sky region containing the soft gamma-ray repeater SGR 1627–41 and the hard X-ray transient IGR J16358–4726 has been observed with XMM-Newton in September 2004. SGR 1627–41 has been detected with an absorbed flux of ∼9×10 erg cm s (2-10 keV), slightly smaller than that seen with Chandra in 2001-2003. For a distance of 11 kpc, this corresponds to a luminosity of ∼3×10 erg s, the smallest ever...
متن کاملSpectral Analysis of X-ray Pulsars with the Integral Observatory
We studied spectra for 34 accretion-powered X-ray and one millisecond pulsars that were within the field of view of the INTEGRAL observatory over two years (December 2002–January 2005) of its in-orbit operation and that were detected by its instruments at a statistically significant level (> 8σ in the energy range 18–60 keV). There are seven recently discovered objects of this class among the p...
متن کاملX-ray Observations of the Black Hole Transient 4u 1630–47 during Two Years of X-ray Activity
The black hole candidate (BHC) X-ray transient 4U 1630–47 continuously produced strong X-ray emission for over 2 years during its 2002–2004 outburst, which is one of the brightest and longest outbursts ever seen from this source. We use over 300 observations made with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) to study the source throughout the outburst along with hard X-ray images from the INTErna...
